Anthony Walls, MD

Family Doc and JJM Founder

Anthony Walls graduated from Boston University School of Medicine and then completed his residency in Family Medicine at the Ventura Family Medicine Residency Program. Afterwards he spent one more year in a fellowship to gain further skills in both operative obstetrics and hospital medicine. He currently works as a hospitalist/ICU physician and also serves as the medical director of a non-profit clinic called Healthcare for Justice that provides free primary healthcare to victims and survivors of human trafficking and domestic violence in Ventura county.

In regards to jiu-jitsu, he’s addicted. He currently is a blue belt under Ricardo ‘Franjinha’ Miller at Paragon BJJ in Ventura, CA. It has consumed so much of his mind that he even wrote a children’s bedtime book that involves it. As many people do in BJJ, he loves to train and to compete. More importantly he has realized how important it is to stay healthy to help towards these ends. Those who seek health information on the internet quickly can be overwhelmed by the deluge of information available. For the sites that are written by qualified healthcare personnel, most aren’t written from the point of view of or for the grappler. For other sites, it’s hard to know if it’s reliable and trustworthy information. So Jiu-Jitsu Medicine is his attempt to fill this void.

But through using jiu-jitsu she remembers she has what it takes to face her fears and learns how respect gains her friends along the way.
